Since 2016, I have been publishing my annual Swiss Holiday Gift Guide. My gift recommendations below are intended for people in Switzerland who love food and cooking. I hope these suggestions help you discover some uniquely Swiss holiday gift ideas, all of which can be purchased online for delivery. As in years past, here they are, in no particular order:

This new pocket-sized wine guide for Switzerland is a great resource for culinary travel. Not only does it describe Swiss wine varieties, but it also shares information about cultural events and restaurants where you can sample regional wines. I have written about the Casa Tomè museum in my Swiss Suppers cookbook, as well as in my monthly food column via Die Zeit‘s “Gruezi!” newsletter. Inspired by this historic home in Poschiavo (GR), the artisanal weaving association, Tessitura Valposchiavo, has designed a pure linen table runner (available in red or green) featuring a pattern from textiles found at this property. It’s a very special Swiss gift for people who appreciate history, high-quality materials and 100% hand-crafted goods.

5. Kambly Symphony Cookie Tin
The Kambly biscuit company is located in the village of Trubschachen (BE). Their buttery biscuits, made with local ingredients, are legendary. Oscar Kambly started his company in 1910 with his grandmother’s recipe for Bretzeli—a thin, crisp biscuit found in the Emmental region. Today, they make all kinds of irresistible biscuits. I especially like the looks of their Symphony Tin, one of many different styles you can choose from that’s filled with cookies.

I recently received the Betty Bossi (aka Swiss version of Betty Crocker) Spätzli-Blitz at the premiere of the new movie Hallo Betty in Zurich. As I was heading to the UK the next day to visit my sister, I brought it along as a gift for her, since she’s never made Spätzli before. For beginners, this machine makes it super easy to prepare these boiled noodle-like dumplings. Plus, it comes with a recipe book to help you get started.

9. Sobuku Big Plate
I love beautiful, handmade ceramics, and I fell in love with these porcelain “Sobuku” plates from ARAI Ceramic (arai means rough in Japanese). This studio was started by Saskia Widmer in Zurich in 2023. Dishwasher safe and with a diameter of 24 cm (about 9 ½ inches), these simple, elegant plates would work for your main course or perhaps as a platter for serving a plate of Christmas cookies. A thoughtful, practical gift for someone who appreciates fine tableware.
